Columbus Park
The Columbus Park neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri, is one of the most diverse and multicultural neighborhoods in the entire city. It features a large number of historic homes and churches as well as having its own park. It’s home to people from various backgrounds and cultures.
Beginning in 1909, the park was developed in the northern half of its current area. Around 2000 people are living in this great neighborhood. Compared with the national average, Columbus Park’s expenses are 29% lower. Renters make up 78% of households in the community. It contains many diverse architectural styles as well as other historic buildings and churches from all over the world.
Columbus Square
Columbus Square is a historic public space in the heart of downtown Kansas City. It is a mainstay in the community, from hosting events to attracting visitors and residents to spend time with friends and family.
Columbus Square was formerly Washington square, but it was renamed in 1925 to honor the neighborhood’s large Italian population.
Columbus Square is a green space with a playground and a large open grassy area in Columbus Park. Many families visit the park on weekends to play games, picnic, and just enjoy the scenery. The stone gazebo, fountain, and trees provide a peaceful atmosphere for visitors who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The park is also home to many events such as gigs, craft fairs, and family reunions.
A wading pool and playground are available on the property. On the playground, there are scheduled activities supervised by playground personnel, including games, folk dancing, and baseball. Children and adults were entertained with concerts and dances.
One of the ways of reaching the Columbus Square Park located at Kansas City, MO 64106 from 753 S 66th Terrace, Kansas City, KS 66111 is the following. First, you need to get onto the Kaw Dr heading northeast and from it go onto the I-70 E. After driving for about 12 miles via I-70 E, you’ll cross the Kansas River, and about half a mile afterward you’ll cross the Kansas-Missouri state border, leaving the Kansas state behind and enter the Missouri state.
Continue driving eastward via I-70 E and take the exit 2H for US-24 E (Independence Avenue). Take a sharp left onto Independence Ave heading westward. Immediately take a left turn onto the Troost Ave. Continue moving north. You have entered the Columbus Park neighborhood. After driving for about 1000ft, you’ll pass by Garrison Square park and reach the end of Troost Ave. Turn left heading westward onto E 4 St. After about 50 ft, you’ll have the YMCA Columbus Park Head Start located at 1100 E 4th St, Kansas City, MO 64106 on your right.
Leaving 1100 E 4th St behind and heading east, you’ll reach the crossing with Troost Ave. You’ll recognize it by the big park on your right. Turn right and head south for about 0.2 miles. The King Piers LLC foundation located at 541 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO will be on your left.
Moving further south, you’ll reach the crossing with the Pacific St. Turn right and head westward. On your right, there will be the Happy Gills takeout. On the 3rd street cross (the one with Harrison St) turn right. The Full Faith Church of Love City located at 546 Harrison St, Kansas City will be on your left.
Leaving the church behind and heading north via Harrison St, you’ll pass by Garozzo’s Downtown takeout Italian Restaurant. When you get to the E 5th St, turn left and drive westward. You’ll recognize the crossing since there’s a Swoon cookie shop there. On the next street cross (the E 5th St and Campbell St), you’ll have the Sebbeto Funeral Home at 901 E 5th St #1189, Kansas City on your left.
Leaving 901 E 5th St and moving further west via E 5th St, just before going under the highway, turn left onto Cherry St. After driving for about 0.2 miles, you’ll see the Columbus Square on your left. To get to parking, drive forward till the next street cross with Charlotte St, and turn left.
